Sonic The Hedgehog is a game franchise created by the Japanese company Sega on June 23, 1991. Sega has developed many other popular games, including the “Streets of Rage” fighting series, Out Run, Crazy Taxi, and Phantasy Star.
Did you know that the “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson, was also a fan of Sonic? He was a huge admirer of the franchise and worked on music for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, although he was never officially credited in the final game. He reached out to Sega to express his admiration, visited the Sega Technical Institute, and co-composed tracks for Sonic 3 with other collaborators. While some sources suggest he left the project because of allegations against him, others say he was unhappy with the quality of the 16-bit sound chip.
Did you also know that Sonic has multiple movies about him and his friends? There are three movies in total, with a fourth one in the works! The films feature many characters, including Sonic, his friends Knuckles, Tails, and Shadow, and his human family, Tom and Maddie.
There are many things to love about Sonic The Hedgehog, from the movies and games to the music and shows. My personal favorites are the games! The games I love are Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Heroes, and Sonic Frontiers. My all-time favorite is Sonic x Shadow Generations!
This game features two storylines. In Shadow’s story, he relives his worst nightmares, facing off against enemies like Mephiles the Dark (the main villain of Sonic ’06), Metal Sonic, the Bio Lizard, Perfect Chaos, the Time Eater, and the main antagonist, Black Doom.
You can also play Sonic’s story, which is a remaster of the original Sonic Generations. In that game, Classic Sonic, a younger version of the hedgehog from the past, teams up with Modern Sonic to defeat the Time Eater. While Sonic and Classic Sonic are featured in the remaster, the new Shadow Generations content focuses on Shadow as the protagonist, with Sonic in a supporting role.
