Painting is a creative skill that is especially common in the art community. Among the many interesting media students can explore in the Fine Arts program at Westwood High School—such as stained glass, ceramics, jewelry, and more—some people find painting to be a slow and relaxing process of creating images using acrylics, oils, or watercolors.
In an interview, Ember Hartman, a 10th grader at Westwood High School, explained what she enjoys most about fine arts: “Experimenting with new styles is extremely exciting. It allows me to leave my comfort zone when painting.” Painting allows artists to explore different styles in depth, giving their work deeper meaning, especially when it connects to the artist personally.
While other media may offer more intricate designs, students are encouraged to explore without limiting themselves to just one. However, painting remains a beautiful form of art, whether it involves landscapes, abstract pieces, surrealism, or portraits like the Mona Lisa, created by Leonardo da Vinci. Painting offers a wide range of expression based on a student’s feelings and imagination.
