It was on an afternoon on Sept. 1. A young boy was shot in Mesa, and police are still trying to figure out the culprit responsible. Detectives continue investigating the incident at about 2:50 p.m. Aug. 30 near 600 N. Stewart and have not identified any suspects.
“One of the theories we are exploring is that this could have been completely random,” police said in a release on Aug. 31. When officers arrived at the shooting scene, they found the 13-year-old with a gunshot wound to his shoulder and began first aid and along with Mesa Fire Department personnel. The boy was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Through investigation, it was learned that the victim and two of his friends were walking home from school and hanging out in the area of 600 North Stewart when the victim felt pain in his shoulder,” police said in an earlier statement.
