On May 6th, 2024, a weapons system safety was set in place for Westwood by the district. Now, when students are getting dropped off and coming through the gates at all entrances, they will have to walk through a detector. At first, most people thought it was a metal detector, but it is not; it is used to find and detect weapons and send reports to administrators. Students are now going to have to take their laptops and three ring binders out of their bags when coming onto campus. These new regulations were said on the morning announcements during 2nd hour and also said on a post from the school’s social media account. Although the process of this may seem tedious, the safety of students and staff is their number one priority; this is their commitment to safety on our campus.
