About
The Mesa Distance Learning Program (MDLP) allows students to take classes and earn credits that will be transferred to their transcripts, enabling them to pass a class without attending in person. However, this program comes at a significant cost of $250 each semester. If you need to pass a class to avoid retaking it next year, or if you’ve failed a class and need to retake it, you may have to complete another semester or even a whole year. Regardless, it can still be quite expensive, so it’s important to try not to fail your classes!
Should You Do It?
What should you do if you’re not failing any of your classes? Should you still take an additional course? In my opinion, you should consider taking it if you feel like you’re behind. For example, I’m currently taking Honors Geometry through MDLP because most of my friends who are in the IB program will be in Honors Algebra II next year, and I want to be with them. Your situation might be different; maybe your friends are in the same math class as you, and you want to continue with them next year. That’s perfectly fine, as you all will still graduate together.
Ultimately, the decision is up to you. However, keep in mind that classes in college will be significantly more expensive. Would you rather struggle now until you turn 50, or struggle later for the rest of your life?
