Once upon a time, after Rapunzel and Eugene got married, they lived a happy life and had three children named Leo, Belle, and Chris. They built their own castle in the forest, where their children grew up to be teenagers who loved playing with the animals.
But there was one thing Rapunzel didn’t know: Mother Gothel never died. She was actually a witch in disguise.
One day, while the kids were out playing in the forest, the witch saw them, and they reminded her of someone… Rapunzel. Since they were Rapunzel’s children, Mother Gothel thought they might have the same powers of healing and youth. She crept up on them, and just as she was about to kidnap Belle, Rapunzel called all the children inside for dinner.
“I need a plan to get that little girl and bring back my youth,” Mother Gothel said to herself. She came up with an idea. Just like she did to Rapunzel when she was a baby, she planned to kidnap Belle at night when everyone was sleeping. “It worked before, so it can certainly work again,” she thought with a creepy smile before disappearing into the shadows.
Meanwhile, Rapunzel had no idea. Ever since Mother Gothel fell from the tower, Rapunzel believed the woman had died and that she would never see her again. But good things never last… right?
That night, Rapunzel and Eugene tucked their children into bed and forgot to close the window. They then went to sleep themselves. Mother Gothel had been watching them the whole time, and when she saw that they were all asleep, she said, “Tonight…” She saw the open window and climbed inside. She saw Belle with her long, shiny hair and started to sing the song to activate its powers: “Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine, make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine…” She saw the hair glow and knew.
The next day, Rapunzel went to wake the children for breakfast. “Kids, wake up, time for breakfast,” she said. That’s when she saw that one child was missing. “Belle…!” she yelled, looking around the house and calling her daughter’s name. That’s when she saw the open window and Belle’s favorite teddy bear on the grass. At that moment, she knew who had taken her and what had happened.
