Curly hair can be difficult for anyone; it’s not easy to take care of. This is especially true when your hair is recovering from heat or other types of damage. It can feel overwhelming with all the different products that promise to help but don’t, or that end up weighing your hair down.
When looking for products, you need to know your hair type. Yes, there are specific hair types for curly hair: 3A, 3B, and 3C. For more coily hair, there are 4A, 4B, and 4C. You can look up a natural hair texture chart online and find the picture that matches your hair.
Next, you’ll need to find a good curly hair routine. You don’t need 40 products for a good routine. A lot of people, including myself, just use one or two products, three at the most. The types of products I recommend are a curl cream, some gel, and oil. You can also use mousse if you want! I recommend watching some YouTube videos or TikToks to help you find what suits you best. And remember, never brush your hair when it’s dry; it will only make things worse.
When you go to sleep, wear a bonnet. It helps keep your hair from getting really frizzy, so you won’t have to do your hair every day. I would try not to do your hair every single day, as it can get pretty tiring and isn’t the best for your hair.
Lastly, have patience! Your hair will be annoying 90% of the time, but it will be worth it once it’s all dry and done and looks beautiful. Embrace all your curls—all types of curly hair are absolutely gorgeous. Put the relaxer and straightener down, heal your hair, or take it out of that bun and style it. A diffuser also helps a lot!
