Shohei Ohtani is a famous baseball player from Japan, he is a pitcher and DH (designated hitter) for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ohtani’s prime seasons have been considered among the greatest in baseball history, with some comparing him to Babe Ruth! Shohei was born on July 5, 1994 in Oshu, Japan. Shohei started his career in 2017 and signed with the Los Angeles Angels and soon won the 2018 ALR ( All League Rookie) of the year award. Shohei Ohtani was considered a free agent at the end of the 2023 season, in the end he signed a 10 year $700 million dollar contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the largest payday contract in sports history up to that time! IN 2024, Shohei took the year off pitching to recover from an elbow surgery and only focused on his offense. August 2023, he became the 6th player in history to hit 40 homers and stolen bases during a season. Less than a month later, Shohei became the only player in history to join the 50/50 club! The 50/50 club is when you hit 50 homers and 50 stolen bases in a single season, he ended with 54 homers and 59 stolen bases. The Dodgers ended up winning their division. The Dodgers ended up making it to the World Series and facing the New York Yankees. Out of 7 games the Dodgers defeated the Yankees 5-1, (best out of 4) Shohei was selected as the NL MVP, the first full time designated hitter to win the award in history! Shohei is an amazing player with an amazing story, although its Impossible to actually prove Shohei is the greatest player of all time, because the skill back then wasn’t as hard, but Shohei Ohtani is the greatest player of our time, making history!
