Five guest poets from the Mesa Arts Center Lit Inc came to share some of their poetry with Westwood students on September 11th. The event started off with Monique giving a warm welcome and sharing a poem about heartbreak. This poem was very touching, talking about being burned, and coming out of the fire victorious. Another amazing poem was by Rae, she used her name to talk about pain and overcoming challenges. Lastly but certainly not least, HB shared a poem about fatherlessness, pain, and the affects of a mans ego, if it was his fathers for leaving, or his for holding on to the pain. This was a powerful event for English students to enjoy.
